Marilyn Monroe Seven Year Itch Halter Style Dress
Barbie Doll-Marilyn Monroe Seven Year Itch white dress is styled after the one the actress wore in the famous vent scene in the movie.
This Barbie halter dress is different from the commercially produced one that is pleated. Mine is made from a plain white, lightweight white fabric and closes in the back with velcro and also velcroes on the neck strap that forms part of the bodice. Its bodice is self-lined. The skirt is one layer thick and has a serged rolled hem finishing it. The single layer allows for a lighter feel rather than the wired skirt that accompanies the trade name doll. If you'd like for it to stand out a little you could always run a fishing line carefully through the serged rolled hem.
This Barbie halter dress has been purchased by collectors and for children as well so I believe either group will be happy with the the look. Using velcro at the neck does not detract from the look at all. I used to sew a snap at the neck but snaps are simply too time consuming and they always end up looking crooked to me.
Your Barbie can wear her Marilyn Monroe style dress for evenings (I have it included in the evening section) or she can choose to wear it for an afternoon picnic. I always thought it looked more elegant so I decided to include it in this current category of evening gowns.
Other colors and even prints would be a possibility. For now I'm just offering it in white since it's easier to set up. If I see the need or request for solid colors or prints, I will add to the choices. You can always contact me if you would like this made in something other than white.
Barbie will need to find just the perfect pair of classic pumps to go with her Marilyn Monroe dress. She is wearing shoes in the picture, just clear ones with gold specks. But you probably have lots of Barbie shoes--white would look best. My Barbie and her shoes are not included.

Just tell me in the shopping cart where you see the question that asks you which body style you are buying for, classic or new. I have made my clothes adaptable for both Barbie body types. As long as I know, I can make it fit! If you don't let me know, I will be contacting you to find out because I aim to please. New body Barbies have 4 1/2 inch bustlines as opposed to the classic doll bustline of 5 1/2 inches. Please measure your doll so that this dress will fit her correctly.
