Barbie Doll-Marilyn Monroe Seven Year Itch white dress is styled after the one the actress wore in the famous vent scene in the movie. This dress is different from the commercially produced one that is pleated. Mine is made from a plain white, lightweight white fabric and closes in the back with velcro but on the halter straps with one single snap. If you are buying it for a younger child I would be happy to replace the halter strap snap with velcro. Its bodice is self-lined. The skirt is one layer thick and has a serged rolled hem finishing it. The single layer allows for a lighter feel rather than the wired skirt that accompanies the trade name doll.  If you'd like for it to stand out a little you could always run a fishing line carefully through the serged rolled hem.

This dress has been purchased by collectors and for children as well so I believe either group will be happy with the snap and velcro combination. Snaps and I simply don't get along so I prefer to use velcro for a nicer fit in the back.

Barbie will need to find just the perfect pair of classic pumps to go with her Marilyn Monroe dress. She is wearing shoes in the picture, just clear ones with gold specks.
