Barbie's prairie dress has an apron and sunbonnet just like you see Ma wear on Little House on the Prairie. In fact, that's what inspired me to make this outfit. One of my customers has a granddaughter who loves the show and my own daughter used to watch this cute show a lot even when she got into her teens and was home sick or on vacation.
I decided to make it a product since there are lots of little girls out there who love to watch Little House and may want to play some of the scenes from the show. Barbie's prairie dress will be made from a dainty country calico. I will choose the color because I have some old-fashioned looking calico. If you really have a color preference, you can always email me, or you could even mail me your own fabric(s) to use.
This prairie dress for Barbie has hook and loop closure in the back, a complimenting-color sunbonnet and an off-white apron that resembles muslin. You might even want to add some miniature accessories such as a small bucket or some kitchen accessories. In no way is this outfit supposed to be historically accurate or even pretend to be. I just thought it was something fun to offer.
Barbie wearing her prairie dress would be perfect in a small scene or just to display on your shelf. All you need to do is to purchase a Barbie or use one you already have.
NOTE: The skirt is much fuller in the version I make now and I add some lace to the neckline. This is not meant to be historically correct or represent any particular time period. It's just for fun and creative play.
As per my usual policy, please allow at least 3-4 weeks from the time you order until you receive your order. Most of the time it won't take nearly this long, but I don't want anyone to be disappointed if you want this for a special gift or occasion. I only want to be sure that you order in plenty of time in case this old-fashioned prairie dress for Barbie is a gift.
